Fuze Teen Poetry Contest
Sponsor: Fuze Publishing
WHO CAN ENTER: Students in grades 9 through 12, who are 14 to 18 years old, and who are legal residents of the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia but excluding residents of Puerto Rico and the US territories and possessions. Students from non-United States are not eligible to enter).
HOW TO ENTER: Entries will be accepted beginning April 1 and ending May 11.
ENTRANTS: Entries can be submitted via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via Facebook message. Entrants must provide the following information: name, grade, home address, city, state, zip code, home email address, home phone number (including area code), school name, and date. Only one (1) entry will be accepted from any person and/or email address. Use of any automated entry device is prohibited and all such entries are void.
Entry must be entrant’s own original work, and cannot contain previously published and/or copyrighted in any part by any 3rd party; must be in keeping with Fuze’s image and may not be offensive or inappropriate, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion; and cannot defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights or any other third-party rights. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry it deems to be offensive, inappropriate, or not in keeping with Fuze’s image, in its sole discretion. All entries and rights to winning poem submissions become the property of Fuze and will not be returned.
JUDGING: Potential winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received by a panel of qualified judges based equally on the following criteria: creativity and mechanics (poetic form). A secondary panel of “peers,” students who are in grades 9 through 12, will also choose the top three submissions. The decisions of the judges are final and binding. Sponsor reserves the right to not award all prizes if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of qualified and eligible entries.
PRIZES: Three poems will be selected as the top prizes and will be published in the Fuze newsletter, the Fuze website, and on the Fuze Facebook page. Those entrants who win the top prize will be awarded a $25.00 gift certificate to either iTunes or Amazon, plus Fuze children’s books or YA book. The second-prize winner will receive a $15.00 gift certificate plus Fuze children’s books or YA book, and the third will receive a $10.00 gift certificate plus children’s books or YA book. Other entries that are considered excellent but not deemed to be in the top three will also be published on the Fuze website.
GENERAL PRIZE AND AWARD RESTRICTIONS: Any and all federal, state, and local taxes, where applicable, are the sole responsibility of the Winners. No cash equivalents, substitutions, transfers, or assignments of prizes are allowed, except by Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion.
NOTIFICATION/ANNOUNCEMENT: Potential winners will be notified by telephone and/or email. By accepting the prize, each Winner (or, if an eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) grants to Sponsor and its designees the right to use his or her name, likeness, hometown, biographical information (including grade and school name), and entry for purposes of advertising and promotional purposes in any and all media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity without further notice, permission, or compensation, except where prohibited by law.
USE OF ENTRY: By submitting an entry, each entrant (or, if an eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) agrees Sponsor shall own the entry submitted (including all rights embodied therein) and that it and its designees may exploit, edit, publish, use, adapt, modify, or dispose of any entry and elements embodied therein, online, in print, film, television, or in any other media now or hereafter known for advertising, promotional, or other purposes throughout the world, in perpetuity, without additional compensation or notification to, or permission of the entrant, if an eligible minor, his/her parent or legal or third party, except as prohibited by law.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: By entering, entrant (or, if an eligible minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor Fuze Publishing from any and all claims, injuries, damages, or losses to the person or property and/or liabilities of any nature that in any way arise from participation in this Contest.
WINNERS LIST: The names of winners will be posted on the Fuze website.
