Larry Buchanan
Biography
A seasoned exploration geologist, Dr. Buchanan earned his PhD in Economic Geology in 1979 and taught university level geology for several years before the romance of prospecting drew him back to the field. After several notable gold and silver discoveries, he capped his career in 2006 by winning the coveted Thayer Lindsley Award for the San Cristobal silver discovery in Bolivia. He continues to work in exploration in foreign countries, has published a dozen scientific works, and is a sought-after speaker at international conferences and college campuses.
Larry Buchanan resides with his wife, Karen Gans, in Ashland, Oregon, in the summers and during the colder months in Guanajuato, Mexico. They have four children and two grandchildren.
